Research Focus Areas
Research in the Department covers a broad spectrum of
topics in modern biochemistry, ranging from structural biology to
gene activity and regulation. Human disease processes such as
cancer and immune function are the focus of research involving DNA
replication, gene regulation, and tumor suppressor activity.
Enzyme function and drug development are important connections to
the fields of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
Plant research projects concentrating on the biochemistry of lipid
and carbohydrate biosynthesis have the potential for achieving
major gains in the agricultural sector.
Structural modeling, computation, and design are integrated into
many of these areas of research.
We have grouped the research areas into three general domains:
Genes & Regulation
Plant Biochemistry
Structural & Computational Biology
You will find that many of our groups have connections to all three of these areas.
Please visit our Faculty and their Research Interests page for more details.
